Do you believe that having more will bring you happiness? When is enough enough? According to Erich Fromm "Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction." If we can't be happy with what we currently have, what makes us think we will be happy with more? More of something does not make a person happier. And where does greed come from? Typically it is because we are comparing ourselves to others. They have more of this and that than I do, so therefore they must be happier than I am. More does not mean happier. More does not mean better. More can mean clutter and distraction. Having too much of something will eventually cause you to become unappreciative. Greed is a fear based emotion that will slowly suck the happiness and the life right out of you.
Learn to be content with what you have. Express gratitude for the things that are present in your life. Let go of the desire to want more of what is out there and lean to be satisfied with the fact that what you have now, in this moment, is all you need. That is the art of happiness.
